Job Seeker FAQ's
Q. How much does it cost me to register and put my CV online?
A. Nothing. There is no charge for any job seeker to register or post their CV. SubseaWork.com does not intend to place any charges on any job seeker, EVER.
Q. How do companies know that I am available?
A. When you log in to SubseaWork.com and go to your profile, you will see an "Available Now" button. Click on this to mark yourself as immediately available. Once marked, companies will see a green light alongside your profile showing that you have recently set yourself as available.
Q. What if I have got a job, and have gone offshore, do companies still see me as available?
A. When you click the "Available Now" button, you set off a timer. This counts down for a seven-day period. After the time expires the Green Light changes to a Red Light and you are marked as Not Registered As Immediately Available.
Q. What if I am still available after one week?
A. You will need to log on again and click on the "Available Now" button again to reset the timer again.
Q. How do companies get my CV?
A. When a company looks for personnel, they are given a search page, which lists all the different criteria for personnel, for example, they can search for Air Divers with CSWIP 3.1 and Medics ticket. The database will compare the search criteria with all the Job Seekers and provide them with a list of profiles of those that match. They will see the Green Light next to all those that have marked themselves as available, and also those that have not. They can then choose to view/download your CV and also to contact you via the board email system.
Q. What if I change my email address?
A. You will need to update your profile to reflect your new email address.
Q. How often should I update my CV?
A. It is best to update your CV as often as possible, to ensure that prospective employers will always be able to view your latest one. However this is up to you, you can update your CV after every job, or every few months, the choice is yours.
Q. Can I upload copies of my Certificates and Passport?
A. Yes, you can and should upload these. Companies will want to see copies of your certification and may need to have a copy of your passport so they can arrange visa for you.
Q. How do I know that only companies can access my CV and Certs?
A. Companies have different levels of registration, they can choose the free service of posting jobs, or they can choose to have a billable company account. The billable account allows them to view and download CV's, and to make contact via the site email. They have to register their company and provide billing details before they can do this, so this stops other individuals from being able to access your details unless they are registered as a billable company.
Employer FAQ's
Q. We have registered but cannot post jobs. How do we do this?
A. After registering you need to go to our Rate Chart. This is viewable via your control panel. When you view the rate chart you will see the options available, and be able to choose the option that best suits your needs.
Q. We are a small company, how can SubseaWork.com be a cost effective method of sourcing personnel?
A. There are four tiers of membership, tailored to suit different types of companies: Demo, Silver, Gold and Platinum. If you do not expect to use our services that much you can choose the Demo or Silver scheme. If at a later date you find that you want to upgrade to another scheme this is easily achieved.
Q. How do we know that someone is available and not at work?
A. We have developed a system whereby personnel log on and mark themselves as immediately available. This is done by the job seeker clicking on an "Available Now" button, which is linked to a countdown timer, set at seven days. You, as the employer will see a "Green Light" next to a persons profile if they have marked themselves as available within the past seven days. The job seeker will have to log on again and reset the "Available Now" button after seven days to continue marking him or herself as still available.
Q. Can we only see or download CV's if the users have marked themselves as "Available Now"?
A. No. When you run a search, you will be sent to a page showing the profiles of all the personnel that match your criteria. People who have not marked themselves, as "Available Now" will have a "Red Light" next to their profile. You can choose to download any of the CV's from the profiles shown.
Q. How recent will the CV's be?
A. This is up to the job seeker. We have requested each job seeker to update their CV's as often as possible. A reminder is given each time they log in, however we cannot guarantee that they will update their CV at that time. You will be able to see the date of last update next to their profile when you have run a search.
Q. How can you track how much usage we have?
A. To use the database function you must have cookies enabled for this site. We then log how many downloads you make each time you log onto the database.
Q. We have offices in different locations; can we add users to our account?
A. Yes, after you have registered your account, you may send the username and password on to your different offices so they can use the account. When you are billed you will see the IP address of each office along with the amount of usage they have made. Alternatively, you can authorize your other offices to open a separate account and have them use your head office as there billing contact.
Q. What is a Featured Employer?
A. Every month, we will randomly pick an employers profile to be linked from the homepage of SubseaWork.com. Once your profile has been featured, it will not be linked from the home page again until all other companies have been featured.
Q. If we want to advertise our company outside the Featured Employer section, can this be done?
A. Yes, there is a separate advertising campaign management system. Contact us for details.
